Double energy differential cross sections for the Coulomb four-body problem in a quasiclassical framework

چکیده
In a quasiclassical framework, we formulate the double energy differential cross sections for the Coulomb four-body problem. We present results for the triple photoionization from the Li ground state at 220.5, 115, 50 and 3.8 eV excess energies. With the energy of one of the electrons kept fixed, the double energy differential cross sections at 220.5 and 115 excess energies are found to be of “U-shape” (unequal energy sharing), with those at 115 eV being in very good agreement with abinitio results. At 50 eV, it seems that a transition starts taking place to more equal energy sharing configurations. Close to threshold, at 3.8 eV excess energy, the equal energy sharing configurations are the dominant ones.

The Coulomb four-body problem in a classical framework: Triple photoionization of lithium
Formulating a quasiclassical approach we determine the cross section for the complete four-body break-up of the lithium ground state following single photon absorption from threshold up to 220 eV excess energy. In addition, we develop a new classification scheme for three-electron ionizing trajectories in terms of electron-electron collisions, thereby identifying two main ionization paths which...

A second-order approximation to the Faddeev-Watson-Lovelace treatment of the rearrangement channel is used in a three-body scattering cross sections. In this formalism, the Three-body wave function is expressed by three coupled integral equations, the Faddeev equations, which contian the two-body (off-shell) transition amplitudes, and proved the uniqueness of their solutions. This amplitude c...

Energy and angle differential cross sections for the electron-impact double ionization of helium are calculated using a non-perturbative time-dependent close-coupling method. Collision probabilities are found by the projection of a time-evolved nine-dimensional coordinate space wavefunction onto fully antisymmetric products of spatial and spin functions representing three outgoing Coulomb waves...
متن کاملA Generalized Sturmian Treatment of (e, 3e) Processes Described as a Three-Body Coulomb Problem
The double ionization of helium by high energy electron impact is investigated. The pure four-body Coulomb problem may be reduced to a three-body one in accordance with the use of the first Born approximation. Even within this frame, major unexplained discrepancies subsist between several theoretical descriptions, and with available absolute experimental data. In this contribution we discuss an...
متن کامل(e,3e) on helium at low impact energy: the strongly correlated three-electron continuum.
Double ionization of the helium atom by slow electron impact (E(0)=106 eV) is studied in a kinematically complete experiment. Because of a low excess energy E(exc)=27 eV above the double ionization threshold, a strongly correlated three-electron continuum is realized. This is demonstrated by measuring and calculating the fully differential cross sections for equal energy sharing of the final-st...
